More reunion pictures
I have received more reunion pictures from people over the last couple of weeks and have been extremely slack in putting them up on the blog. My apologies.
Firstly, from the Smith Collection we have:

The whole Group at Graham's BBQ on Saturday.

The members of the "1970 Gurkha Club" display their "Badges of Office" from Kathmandu.

Ned and Paul doing a spot of "dolphin" chasing on Port Phillip Bay. I'm still waiting to see the pictures of the "dolphins".

The next days crew, Sandy, Andrew, Peter and Jean, who couldn't find any signs of dolphins.

"Mayday, Mayday. Abandon Ship! Women and children after me!"
And from Kiwi Rae's portfolio we have:

Another Group photo - just in case you weren't smiling in the first one.

Some happy campers at Camp BayPlay, Sorrento.

"Cleansing the palate" with the obligatory ice cream between booze ups, errh - wine tastings.
And from the Ide's family album:

Look, people sent me this photo so I feel obliged to publish it.

The energetic "Nepean Peninsula Walkers" - Back: Peter, Jean, Cynthia and Don. Front: Marg, Alvah, Chrissie and Sarita.

Hello sailor!

Some tourists at the "Eight and a bit Apostles".

More tourists on the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Reunion - Tuesday March 27
Tuesday saw a few departures for home, another sailing trip on the bay, a tour of the local wineries for the “boozers”, and we finished the day with a BBQ at Barb and Andrews home at Sorrento.

Cynthia and Don about to take off to see what's left of the 12 Apostles on the Great Ocean Road.

Chrissie ready to catch the bus back to Melbourne.

Margaret looking very nautical.

The boats rudder strikes a submerged Chinese submarine (or possibly a rock) and Commodore Smith and Captain Rosza assess the damage.

Suitably attired with life jacket, I calmly await instructions to abandon ship

Barb preparing food for the mob.

An uninvited BBQ guest.

Paul about to check if spiders can fly - they can't.

Reunion - Monday March 26
On Monday some of the more energetic people took a hike around Point Nepean Quarantine Station, whilst a number took up Andrew's offer of a leisurely sail on Port Phillip, and we, the remainder, opted for the more civilised Sorrento shopping experience - including lunch. In the evening we all adjourned to the Portsea Hotel for dinner and a birthday celebration.

Ned, Sandy and Heather check out the local icecream at Blairgowrie.

Graham finds that modern communications mean that work is just a phone call away.

Paul and John at the Portsea Hotel.

Peter, Jean, John and Sandy.

The reluctant "Birthday Boy".

Sandy.

Andrew and Barb.

Don and Cynthia.

Sarita and Chrissie.

Rae.

Stop the world, I need a rest
WOW! Did anyone get the number of that “Reunion Bus” which hit me during the last weekend. Was that unreal, real or surreal or a combination of all three. My mind is still spinning.
After a few 12 hour sleeps, I’m guessing this must be Sunday, and I appear to be home, but the brain is a couple of days behind and having trouble in catching up with the body.
That was one awesome reunion.
As Graham has mentioned in an email, we will have to produce a master list of contact details so that people can plan future travels so as to catch up with everyone on a more leisurely one-to-one basis. The time went so quickly.
A BIG THANKYOU to everyone who committed to the reunion and actually fronted up. We had a 100% turnout. That must have been one hell of a memorable experience we undertook some 35 years ago.
My special thanks to Marg and Barb for organising all the money, transport and accommodation details which greatly assisted in making the reunion run so smoothly. I’m already looking forward to the next reunion in Aotearoa (or was I dreaming that)! In the meantime I’ll put up some of the photos from the weekend, and ask that if you have any pictures which you would like to add to the blog please email them to me. Also if you have any thoughts or feelings about the reunion, either click on the comments or send me an email and I will publish here.

T minus 12 days, and counting….
It’s just a couple of weeks to go until the reunion here in Melbourne.
It hardly seems like nine months since we were sitting around Marg’s dinner table discussing the idea. Anyhow, last Monday (March 5) John, Sandy, Marg and me took a drive down to Barbara and Andrew’s place at Sorrento to have a final get together prior to everyone arriving. While we were down there we took a look at the accommodation which Barb has organised. We were all very impressed with Barb’s choice. The place looks ideal for lazing around and chatting, having a swim, feeding your face, drinking the odd beer or three, and generally making a pig of yourself for a few days – just like we used to do when travelling! In the afternoon everyone went for a sail on Port Phillip Bay, (except yours truly who was suffering from a queasy stomach) and I am pleased to say all returned, without my having to alert the Water Police or Coast Guard. Over dinner we sorted out the details of meeting, greeting, contacting and transporting everyone around Melbourne. Margaret and I have produced various lists, and bits of information for everyone attending the reunion, which will be emailed to you over the next day or so. According to my count we will have a total of 26 people over the weekend. Not a bad effort, I reckon.
So, we are all set and very much looking forward to seeing you all in a couple of weeks. Don’t forget to bring plenty of “baksheesh” with you – and any medications you now require to keep the body functioning. See you soon.
